Cardinal Flower
Lobelia cardinalis

This showy plant grows to be 2-4 feet tall. The brilliant scarlet flowers are 2-lipped, with the long stamens projecting through a slit in the upper lip. The alternate leaves are toothed. It grows along stream banks and in moist gardens, and blooms July through October.
