The Garden Chronicles

Every week or so, weather permitting, we take pictures of the plants in the Kimberly Steward Memorial Garden to show their development. In the early spring, when every day might bring a new member to "the club," we might take the pictures two or three times a week. The text for the descriptions of the plants was written by John Bond, retired professor of micology at Appalachian State and the Museum's "Head Gardener". The pictures were taken by Catherine Pinson.

In each section of the table are the latest members of the garden. Plants in prior weeks are updated until their demise or until the end of the season. There is also a pictorial index if you would like a preview of the blooms before watching the plants' development.

As you are looking at the plants, please note the links at the bottom of the pages. In addition to being able to return to the indexes and the description, you can also go to the previous week and the following week. This way, you can easily follow the changes in the plants.
