A member of the asteraceae, this plant blooms for an extended time. It begins blooming in March with flowering stems only 2-4 inches long. By late June, flowering stems may be 1+ feet tall. The yellow flowers contrast sharply against the green leaves. It is found mainly east of the mountains in deciduous forests of the Piedmont and inner coastal plain.
