Orville Hicks carries on the tradition of one of the best-known storytelling families in the Appalachian mountains. His great-grandfather, Council "Counce" Harmon, was one of the earliest known tellers of Jack Tales in the region. Orville's storytelling abilities have been used in the North Carolina Visiting Artist Program and he performs regularly in the public schools and at numerous festivals. His gentle personality and remarkable skills will introduce your students to the Jack and Grandfather tales in a way that they will never forget.
