Annette Rogers

During the last thirty years I have been a painter, but even before that, as far back as I can remember, I have always worked with needle, thread, and fabric. From the time my mother showed me how the sewing machine worked, I was hooked. For many years I made clothes for myself and my family. Eventually, I branched out into "wearable art".

In the last five years I have explored making art quilts. During this time, I discovered fabric paints and dyes. What a magical thing to learn I could color my own fabrics! I am now able to combine my two loves --- painting and sewing.

My quilts and paintings have much in common: my interest in surface texture, layering of colors and fabrics, and working improvisationally in an abstract manner.
