Appalachian Cultural Museum

Meet Barbara Moy

Barbara has been with the Museum for about three years and says volunteering here reminds her of the importance of preserving heritage and culture. Whenever she and her husband travel, she makes a special point to visit every museum she can. Understanding languages, heritage and culture carry special significance for Barbara. Currently, she is trying to preserve her own native Comanche language and customs by sharing what she learns about them with her daughter. Barbara was a reading teacher for 21 years in Wilkes County. A lover of old cars, she is a member of the MOPAR car club and an amateur race car driver at times. Barbara doesn't just drive cars, though; she and her daughter, a resident of Colorado Springs, recently participated in a real cattle drive!
