Meet Don Stover

Don's travels around the US and Canada eventually brought him to the Boone area, where he and his wife have been spending their summers since 1996. When October arrives they head back to Holiday, Florida, to avoid the winters and to be closer to their children. Don spent his growing-up years in Portland, Maine, spent 6 1/2 years in the Navy, and moved down to Florida to work for McDonnell-Douglas. Since retiring, he has volunteered countless hours at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, for Watauga County Meals on Wheels, has contributed to the Grandfather Mountain Home for Children and the Crossnore school, and can now be found helping us here at the Museum.
