Meet Judy Clarke

Appalachian's Athletic Department welcomed Judy Clarke in 1972 when she moved to Boone to teach in the department and to coach women's basketball and volleyball. She planned on being here for just a few years since NC seemed like it might be too hot, but 28 cool summers later Judy is still here in our mountains. Judy was Associate Athletic Director when she retired from ASU in 1996 and has since traveled far and wide to Alaska and Australia with the Alumni Association and to California on an Elderhostel with John and Bettie Bond. In Boone, Judy is an active participant in ISS (Institute for Senior Scholars) programs, she serves on the Board of the Watauga County Humane Society, and has celebrated her 4th Christmas with Santa's Toybox. Somehow she finds time to help us out at the Museum and to entertain her three dogs: Cagney and Lacey and the beautiful one-year-old Mystique.
